What has your experience been with Dashboards and Metrics?

I recall in the 80's that Quality Circles and measurement charts were the rage. I'm not unique in observing that a number of the measurements were easy to measure but not particularly significant.

How do you pick a metric to post and track?

Some progress in 2005

Some of the efforts over the last 12 months:

We have done considerable work on developing a lean tool and die making process -- in the form of value stream maps of the die design process.
We are now working on a lean die configuration, i.e., eliminating design and build labor content wherever possible and reducing material and work sublet costs.
We will return to the die build portion of the business after we make progress on the lean die.
We are looking for additional active members in the stamping and die making industry to help share our workload.

Initial post. The Lean Tool & Die Technical Group meets once a month by conference call. Usually on the first Tuesday of the month, around 1:30pm Eastern time.
